Turning Leftovers into Lunches

FullCupboard.com

How may leftovers are in you fridge right now? Turn your delicious leftovers into lunches for the next day. You'll find yourself making extra dinner so that everyone can take leftovers for lunch the following day.

The real advantages are:
1) You'll know what your family is eating, probably a lot healthier than what they can buy at school or work.
2) Think of the money that will be saved turning your leftovers into lunch. At work, my lunch usually runs anywhere between $5-$8 a day.

Here are some great ideas for turning leftovers into lunches:

Meatloaf - Slice it up and make sandwiches, or take a slice, crumble it up over some spaghetti and tomato sauce. When you're ready to eat, just put it in your microwave.

Pot Roast - Some foods just taste better the next day. Pot Roast is definitely one of them. Slice it up, warm and put into an Italian roll and cover it with gravy for a nice hot sandwich.

Chicken - Chicken has to be one of the most versatile leftover foods ever. Of course, you can make sandwiches, but what about chicken salad, chicken wraps, or grill the leftovers for a great, grilled chicken salad with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pepers, and your favorite salad dressing.

Soup or Stew - You don't have to do anything special for these leftovers. Just put them into a tight-sealed microwave bowl and go. You can warm it up at the office or school; if a microwave is not available, insert into a small big-mouth thermos. Warm it up in the morning, and it will be warm enough for your lunchtime meal.

Pasta Dishes - These dishes can be warmed up in a microwave container. You might want to add a little bit more sauce to keep the pasta dish from getting dry.

Steak and Pork Chops - Making a sandwich with these leftovers is too easy, try making a wrap with our favorite veggies and sauce.

I would suggest that you invest in some quality microwave containers with tight-fitting lids and a sturdy lunch bag. Think about how you would be throwing away good food and how much money you can save with leftover lunches.

You shall furnish him liberally out of your flock, and out of your threshing floor, and out of your winepress: of that with which the LORD your God has blessed you you shall give unto him.

"God Loveth A Cheerful Giver by Margaret Cagle

FullCupboard.com

"GOD LOVETH A CHEERFUL GIVER"
by Margaret Cagle

Some Christians give for others to see.
They think, "I'm a big giver; just look at me!"
Others will grudgingly tithe their money,
But not one cent over ten percent, Honey!

Some Christians will give while silently crying.
"I might need this money," they may be sighing.
A hand may be trembling as it writes a check.
Giving may make some people a nervous wreck!

Did you ever hear laughter as the plate was passed?
Did you ever see wide smiles as envelopes were cast?
I've never seen Christians bubble with cheer
As they give an offering to Jesus without fear.

God really loves a cheerful giver, I know
Because the Scripture tells me so.
Don't give out of fear; just give out of love,
And you'll please your Heavenly Father above.

God Bless,

Start a Pantry to Save Time and Money Pt.2

FullCupboard.com

con't Start a Pantry to Save Time and Money Pt. 2

Money will only be wasted if you purchase items no one eats and extra time will be taken with cleaning out all of the unused items. Each household is in a different stage of life and their items will reflect those differences.

For example, those families with young children might want to start a pantry with cold cereal, diapers, wipes, pretzels, crackers, and canned ravioli in their storage area. Homemakers who are dedicated to baking and creating meals from scratch might have plenty of flour, sugar, baking powder, chocolate chips, dried buttermilk, and oatmeal on their shelves.

Couples who are retired typically don’t eat large meals three times a day and they tend to eat out a bit more often, so their items might be limited to snack foods and a few items on hand in the event that guests arrive unexpectedly.

Organization is key to keeping a well-stocked pantry. Mount a small dry erase board or notepad with a writing utensil right in the storage area so you can add items to the list as they are used.

Your shopping list will always be in process. Any space can be used to store your items and if you have a larger family, it will probably be spread over several different locations. Use boxes, baskets, shelves, plastic tubs with lids, or anything you like to store your items in an organized manner

Start and Organize your Pantry and see how much time and money you will save.

But generous people plan to do what is generous, and they stand firm in their generosity.

Start a Pantry to Save Time and Money Pt. 1

FullCupboard.com

Start a pantry because a well stocked kitchen pantry and is the trademark of an organized kitchen. It is important for every home to have a reserve of regularly used food items, sundries and a few special items on hand to welcome surprise guests.

For example, if it is properly stocked, you won’t run out of toilet paper, paper towels, flour, sugar, or other staple items which can be bought in bulk. Also, if for some reason an illness, job loss or natural disaster occurs, a well maintained stock level enables a family to continue eating and living well despite their circumstances. How does someone start a pantry?

First I would start with a Basic Pantry List. There is a standard: if you have an item that is open, there is one back up on the shelf. It’s a good idea to have at least a three-day supply of both food items and hygiene supplies to provide for your family plus at least one extra person

Always use the FIFO method: First In, First Out. When you purchase new items, rotate the older items to the front to be used first. If you are a planner and prefer to have more supplies on hand, it would be wise to include substitutes for fresh foods.

Examples might include powdered milk, protein products, dried fruits and dried vegetables. These items might simply save a trip to the grocery store if you accidentally run out of a fresh item, which means you have saved time and money!  Continued on Next Blog Post

Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from  the one who wants to borrow from you.

Clipping and Sorting your Coupons A Method to My Madness

FullCupboard.com

Coupon clip one day a week at a specific time, toss all the ones you don't use or give them to someone that you know who uses that particular product, and then you're done until next week

Sometimes you can accumulate piles of newspapers and coupon circulars that will you will eventually get around to clipping the coupons. So designate a place for these items so you won't have to look for them when coupon clipping time comes.

Sort your coupons
Grocery coupon organizers let you sort your coupons once and then you're done. There are a number of different types of coupon organizers some simple and some very detailed. A good rule is to put the older coupons in front of newer ones so that you use the older ones first and can use them up before they expire.

· Sort them logically -- for you
Everybody's a little different, but the point is that you should sort your coupons in a way that makes sense to you. Here are some ways to consider sorting them, select which method is easier for you.

· Alphabetically by product name or manufacturer
· By grocery aisle order at your favorite store
· By type of food or household item ( cereals, canned vegetables, canned friut, dairy, meat, clothing,
  cleaners,baby items etc.

Remember that however you decide to sort your coupons, you should place them with the oldest
coupons in front of the newer coupons in each category. This will ensure that you use up old coupons
before they expire, saving yourself as much money as possible.

There's no worse feeling than finding an expired coupon that you could have used.

Make sure to share our blog with others, but make sure to share your extra groceries you've received from saving first!!!!

But generous people plan to do what is generous, and they stand firm in their generosity.

There's Always Hope

A Broken And Contrite Heart
by Cindy Wyatt

A broken and contrite heart
God will not despise
He sees each teardrop that falls
with his own eyes

He knows how to put back the pieces
of a shattered heart
And with his hand will guide you
to give you a fresh start

He sees down deep inside
and knows the hurt you feel
And will never leave you or forsake you
but will rather heal

When there is a deep longing in your heart and soul
with no human help in sight
He will be there to hold your hand
through the darkest night

Grocery Shopping Tip #5 Take a Grocery List with You!!!

FullCupboard.com

This is another protection against picking up things that are too costly. Check your cabinets and the fridge to see what you need and write them down. Remember, the goal is to stick to the list and Your budget as much as possible.

It also helps you save money on gas, because most of the time if you don't have a list you forget something.

Having a grocery list also helps you to remember the items that you have coupons for, nothing like getting home and finding a coupon that could have saved you a dollar or two.

Sometimes it's the little things that count, I am pretty sure you can remember how many times you entered a supermarket and walked out with twice as many things than you went in for.

For some of you hurry to eat your own meal without sharing with others. As a result, some go hungry while others get drunk.

Grocery Shopping Tip #6 Shop at the same Stores

FullCupboard.com

Shop at the same stores. This is more of a frustration reliever. In a new store, you spend most of your time looking for things and walking up and down every aisle, which oftentimes leads to forgetting an item or two. being consistent you know when your regular store is running a special or if it is a good time to pick up an item or wait for a sale.

Of course if a store that you do not normally shop with is offering a deal to good to be true and you have a couple of coupons to make it an Awsome deal by all means make a trip there.

You don’t actually have to skimp on your groceries, you have to just shop a little smarter.

Come up with a system to insure savings on a regular basis. There are a number of websites and publications along with these 6 Grocery Shopping Tips that will help you save money and stay within your budget.

Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and blessed them. Then he broke the loaves in pieces and gave them to his disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.

Keep Your Coupons in One Place

No more scrambling before you go to the grocery store, scratching your head and saying, "Now, where did I put those coupons?"  Especially when you are standing in front of the cashier and have a long line of of shoppers behind you.

Of course you want to save money but you also want to be considerate to the cashier and  fellow shoppers.  It's a good feeling to shop and use your coupons without the cashier having to shout "Help on aisle #5"  because your coupon is expired or you're using a coupon from the stores competitor.
Or, even worse, you may miss out on savings because you can't find a coupon.

This way, by having one central location where you keep all of your coupons, you can pick all of those out that you're going to use based upon your grocery list, tuck them in your wallet or purse, and you're good to go

I normally keep my coupons in the car so whenever I go out I always have my coupons nearby. Since the coupons are in the car we can always decide to treat ourselves because we also keep a Restaurant and Entertainment coupon booklet  with us also.  We'll discuss that later on in our blog.

Give to those who ask, and don't turn away from those who want to borrow.

Grocery Shopping Tip #4 Don't shop when You're Hungry

FullCupboard.com

Never I say Never shop when your stomach is touching your back and definitely not when you are on a
Budget.  That I am only going to spend $50 because I have a list and coupons turns easily into a $75-$100 shopping trip.

Then you get upset because you have those Rabbit Ear pockets you know turned inside out and looking crazy.

This is mainly caused by impulse shopping, this is set up by the grocery store with all those tasty items on the shopping isle end caps and all those candies and snacks in the checkout aisle. Just look at the image below the choices never end.

If you eat a small snack before you go shopping you wll save quite a few bucks.  When we do shop on an empty stomach my wife repeatedly says “Your just picking up stuff because you’re hungry".  This is probably one of the most important Grocery Shopping Tips of all.

But you shall open your hand wide unto him, and shall surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he lacks.

Consider the Poor by Margaret Cagle

FullCupboard.com

This poem definitely described me when it came to giving to the poor
Now if able I give without hesitation.

A lady came up to me the other day and said "I just got out of the hospital and I need car fare to get home", even though she had a hospital bracelet on all I could hear myself saying was "here we go again".

Then all of the sudden I just dug in my pocket and gave her a couple of dollars.  I am not patting myself on the back, I'm just a little humiliated in reference to my first response.  Here is a poem that I hope you will enjoy.

Consider The Poor
by Margaret Cagle
I saw a beggar on the street
Begging for some food to eat.
He had a tattered old backpack.
He wore no coat upon his back.

I'll ignore this pathetic jerk.
Maybe he's just too lazy to work.
I'll turn my head the other way,
But for this man, I'll surely pray.

The Holy Spirit then spoke to me.
"I gave you two good eyes to see
Those in need along the way.
You need to give as well as pray."

"I have blessed you, my dear child
Because you were so meek and mild,
But now you want to turn your head
When a poor beggar needs to be fed."

Alas, and then my tears did flow.
"Forgive me, Lord; yes I will go.
Yes, I will help this needy man.
Yes, I will help him all I can."

Yea, but for God's wondrous grace,
I could be in that beggar's place.
Lord, may I never, never indeed
Forget that there are those in need

Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.  Isaiah 58:10

Grocery Shopping Tip #3 Buy in Bulk

FullCupboard.com

Buy in bulk cereals, meats, canned vegetables, condiments, juices, and paper products can be bought in bulk usually at a lower price at food warehouses like Costco, BJ’s, and Wal-Mart.

Even the local Grocery stores have gotten involved in bulk products even to include store brand items.

If you have a store or manufacturers coupon, you’ll save even more money. You would be surprised to know that some stores as those listed above will let you use coupons on multipack items.  Now that's what you call Savings!!!!  Remember to always use a coupon when possible when purchasing in bulk.  Back track and see if you saved by dividing the amount of items by price and seeking this item on the shelves.

He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God.

Grocery Shopping Tip #2 Buy More Staples than prepared foods.

FullCupboard.com

When I am shopping I notice shopping carts full of processed foods, particularly with the younger mothers. Everything seems to be microwaeable or instant this or instant that.

It is easier to add water and buy a box of macaroni and cheese, but is it more economical? A large box of macaroni and a block of sharp cheese will make more servings for your family and I am pretty sure it would be a lot tastier.

Just keep in mind that when picking up prepared foods remember the costs involved and how much cheaper you can make it yourself.

Starting a Pantry or just purchasing these items in Bulk will provide you with long term savings.Tupperwre provides Some of the best products to store your staples.

Don't forget to share this info with others, and if you accidently bought too much share with someone.

Grocery Shopping Tip #1 Clipping Coupons

FullCupboard.com

1. Clipping coupons.

They put those in the newspaper for a reason. Manufacturer competition is at an all time high. Of course manufacturers are trying to get you to buy new items but also multiple products in their line.

The coupons can be found in the Sunday paper, some weekday editions and there are multiple websites which offer printable coupons.

With the supermarket, manufacturer coupons , and online coupons we save at least $25-$40  per shopping trip without really trying.

Be sure to organize your coupons by purchasing a grocery coupon organizer. That’s money in my pocket that I can put towards savings, some other expense, or helping someone in need.
